New Year -- Welcome The Change, Start The Story

Resolutions.  They are everywhere.  The usual diet, work, success and fun based wishes and desires.  It was only one short year ago when I read a very interesting post online about how resolutions are flawed by design.  Our goal in making resolutions is to succeed in attaining the goal we set for ourselves.

Productivity coaches number one rule is set big goals, make small steps.  Here in lies the double edge sword.  Most resolutions sound like great ideas, "lose weight," or "get in shape."  Sound familiar? How do you do that though?  Like everyone else, I do this each and every year -- until last year.

I would get half way through each goal each year, and lose sight, forget what steps I was taking to get to my goal.  Life gets in the way, shtuff happens.  Then this blog post crossed my screen, about New Years Stories.  Define your goal, make it the last chapter in a story.  Define the story, from what is in front of you, page one of a story, start chapter by chapter.  Make it 10-20 chapters, each one with a single step that moves you towards your goal.  Once you have this in writing its time to act.  You wrote the story starting with what was in front of you at that moment.  Now you can fulfill each chapter step by step.

Have fun, be great, enjoy the year and get the stories goin'!

Hannah H. || Due Date || West Marin

What a great way to run into Hannah.  After a half decade or so with no contact we ran into each other, and with just my offering to capture her in the last week of her pregnancy, a entire day of fun and shinanigans was had.

Her words, throughout the begining of the day were "I am purpetually awekward" to which I replied "No."

Alas she doesn't believe me when I say she isn't, so here are the pictures to prove it!

Kaci B. || Due Date || Marin County

So the time has come!  No, the baby is not coming (actually, could be right now!), its time for the pics to be posted!  The gallery to purchase is here!

Kaci, as always, thank you for all the many times you and I have had photography expeditions!  You might be my most frequent client :)  Best wishes to you and the WHOLE family!

If you happen to be reading this, I think you like my work, so you should LIKE my work :)

Oh, and Shelbi, you are the single best most capable VALS around (in case you didn't know, us photographers use the acronym instead of the offical name: Voice Activated Light Stick)

As always, have a great day all!

Alaina & Gavin || Together || Los Angeles

If it isn't challenging, it isn't fun.  Words to live by, as any photographer will tell you.  As with most shoots, this one had its difficult ones.  Alaina will tell you she thought it would be her unease in front of the camera.  I would have thought it was not knowing the location as well as I like.  In fact, just driving to and from the engagement was the hardest part.  I live in San Francisco, and I had one day to get to Los Angeles, shoot, and get back home.  The drive started at 4:30 AM and I got home at 2:00 AM late that night!  I managed to shoot in between.  I love the pictures, I had a great time, I hope you guys did too!

You guys were a riot, the "pre-gaming" we did spontaneously was key, but the most important thing that day that made it work was you.  You two were troopers, ready to go anywhere, do anything, and I just forced you to keep playing in front of the camera.  Bravo you two, and I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I do!

Getting Geared Up

This summer is starting off with a bang!  Just shot my first maternity session, and have three more in the next few weeks, and perhaps a birthing.  You never know!

Several early weddings this year are about to go up on the ol' blog, and lookout! A gaggle of engagements might just come up as well!

Start Liking my blog or website, or you will miss the fun!

Thank you Kaci for taking a chance with a guy that knows very little about maternity photos :)

Fashion Fun In Sabastapol, CA

This was all for fun.  A dear friend had a portfolio she had to construct of her design for classes she is taking at FIDM.  She did all the work, I just shot.  I enjoyed the models, the location, and the soggy ground that froze our feet!

Bon Apetit :)

No photoshopping, the pixels are only corrected and color and contrast changed.
